Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

Once upon a time in New York City, two people are brought together by their love of music and a quest to find their favorite band’s secret show. Their chance meeting set in motion a night filled with adventure and romance. This is the story told in the contemporary and charming romantic comedy Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

Nick (Michael Cera) had his heart broken by his girlfriend, Tris (Alexis Dziena), a month ago and has had a hard time getting over it. He has left her messages and made many mix-Cds, which fall into the hands of her classmate, Norah (Kat Dennings). Norah doesn’t know why Tris left him because he has the same taste in music as her.

Nick wants to take a mental health day on the night of his band’s, The Jerk Offs, big gig. He is convinced to go out by his bandmates because Where’s Fluffy? is playing a secret show later that night somewhere in the city. Norah also learns about the show and decides to go with her friend, Caroline (Ari Graynor), as long as she promised not to get drunk.

At the show, Norah notices Nick on stage, but has no idea that he is one who made the mixes. After seeing Tris at the show with a new guy, Norah tells her that she is there with her boyfriend. Norah walks over to Nick and asks him to be her boyfriend for five minutes. This sets the stage for a night that both of them will never forget.

Nick’s bandmates see the kiss between Nick and Norah and decide that she is the perfect replacement for Tris. To let the two spend more time together, they offer to take Caroline home, who is extremely drunk. The plan is that Nick and Norah will go find Where’s Fluffy? and they will all meet up later. After a quick stop for food, Nick’s bandmates realize that they have lost Caroline, who they thought was sleeping in the back. The whole crew spends the rest of the night trying to find the band and Caroline.

You will come out of this movie believing in fate and destiny. The portrayals of the characters make them loveable and relatable. You feel like you have known them all your life. Nothing about the plot is boring or contrived. Nick and Norah will warm your heart and take you on one crazy music-filled adventure.
