Sir Elton John's Brooch Fails To Sell Under Hammer
Jewelry previously owned by Sir Elton John is apparently not that high in demand. According to the Press Association, the pop legend's sapphire and diamond clip brooch failed to sell at a Bonhams' Sale of Fine Jewelry auction last week in London. The brooch, made in 1935, is shaped in a letter "J" with variously cut diamonds and sapphires studded around it. It was expected to sell for between 24 and 30-thousand dollars. John wore the brooch in the music video for his 1988 hit, "I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That." Other items of jewelry that did sell under the hammer include a natural pearl necklace that went for over 120-thousand dollars and an emerald-cut diamond single stone ring fetched almost 700-thousand dollars.
