Against Me's Gabel Talks Pigeons, Posting, And Performing
Against Me's Tom Gabel is going solo this fall, promoting his new "Heart Burns" EP and collaborating with fellow solo frontmen Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, and Tim Barry on a tour this fall. The musicians will be taking part in the Revival Tour in which each will support the other in playing their music. Gabel is promoting his six-track release which features the primary cut, "Anna Is A Stool Pigeon." The vocalist penned the track after reading about an environmental activist who was convicted of using explosives to damage corporate and government property after being implicated by an undercover FBI agent who posed as an activist. Gabel says, quote, "What struck me most about the story was a sense of familiarity. I know the scene he was a part of, I used to be part of it myself. I've thought the same thoughts, talked the same talk. I've hung out with the same people, gone to similar protests. If Eric [McDavid] could have become the target of an FBI sting operation, then so could I. This could have been me." The "Heart Burns" EP arrives October 28th. Leading up to the release, Gabel will post videos for each song at his MySpace page. The tour starts October 31st in Pomona, California.
