Sonic Youth announced it was cancelling the All Tomorrow's Parties festival -- which was coming up a few weeks later in Los Angeles -- because of the geopolitical instabilities following the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Weezer announced the group was cancelling its upcoming overseas trek, citing, quote, "the unsettling and tragic circumstances of the recent event in the U.S."
In 2004
The Vote For Change tour officially began with a series of shows in Pennsylvania. The Dave Matthews Band led an ensemble performing in State College, Pearl Jam was the headliner in Reading, and R.E.M. and Bright Eyes took the stage in Philadelphia.
In 2005
The Pixies were the headliner for the Brooklyn installment of the two-day Across the Narrows Festival in New York. The Killers, New York Dolls, and Interpol also performed.
