In 1967 The BBC launched Radio One, a rock and roll station. In 1974 Kiss released the album "Hotter Than Hell." In 1977 Rat Scabbies walked out on the Damned during its European tour. Future Culture Club drummer Jon Moss temporarily replaced him. Kiss released the album "Kiss Alive 2." In 1980 Lou Reed and the B-52's were among the artists making cameo appearances in Paul Simon's semi-autobiographical movie, "One Trick Pony," which had its premier in New York. In 1981 The Pretenders had to cancel the last leg of its U.S. tour because drummer Martin Chambers put his hand through a window, cutting arteries and tendons. In 1983 The Stray Cats' "(She's) Sexy + 17" peaked at number five on the pop singles chart. In 1984 The Talking Heads released the album "Stop Making Sense." In 1988 Bon Jovi's "Bad Medicine" broke into the Top 40. In 1995 The Dave Matthews Band was among the artists who performed at Farm Aid in Louisville, Kentucky. The show raised nearly one-million-dollars for the cause. In 1996 New releases included the Nirvana live album "From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah." In 2000 INXS and Men at Work were among the artists who performed at the closing ceremonies for the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. In 2001 Sonic Youth announced it was cancelling the All Tomorrow's Parties festival -- which was coming up a few weeks later in Los Angeles -- because of the geopolitical instabilities following the September 11th terrorist attacks. Weezer announced the group was cancelling its upcoming overseas trek, citing, quote, "the unsettling and tragic circumstances of the recent event in the U.S." In 2004 The Vote For Change tour officially began with a series of shows in Pennsylvania. The Dave Matthews Band led an ensemble performing in State College, Pearl Jam was the headliner in Reading, and R.E.M. and Bright Eyes took the stage in Philadelphia. In 2005 The Pixies were the headliner for the Brooklyn installment of the two-day Across the Narrows Festival in New York. The Killers, New York Dolls, and Interpol also performed. In 2007 Placebo announced that drummer Steve Hewitt had left the band.<
