Cold War Kids Dig For "Loyalty"
Cold War Kids are currently promoting their "Loyalty To Loyalty" album, and one of the last steps in putting the disc together was coming up with the title. Singer Nathan Willett says he found the moniker while researching early 1900s philosopher Josiah Royce. Willett says he took inspiration from Royce's writing about a Nietzsche idea of the ultimate pursuit of man being to rise above the masses and become the strongest individual person possible. He adds, quote, "Josiah Royce's was coming at it [with the idea of], yeah it is man's tendency, but that to be in community is kind of the highest pursuit of man or ought to be." The singer says it's a good fit as a majority of the record wrestles with the themes of community versus privacy. Cold War Kids' "Loyalty To Loyalty" is out now.
