Billy Joel Offers Donation To Family Of Dead Fisherman
Billy Joel is offering money from his own pocket to help with funeral expenses for a clam-digger who was found dead. According to "The Monterey Herald," the fisherman's body washed up on a beach not far from Joel's Centre Island mansion after he was reported missing for several days. Joel has made a donation to the North Oyster Bay Baymen's Association to help benefit the fisherman's family. He has declined to say exactly how much money has been given.
The veteran rocker has long been an advocate of Long Island, New York, fishermen and has supported their hard work with songs such as "The Downeaster Alexa." The singer will soon help another cause when he teams up with Bruce Springsteen to perform a fundraiser concert for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. |
