John Mellencamp Remembers Paul Newman
John Mellencamp is remembering legendary actor Paul Newman who passed away last Friday. The veteran rocker John Mellencamp writes on his website that Newman was one of the biggest influences on his life. He writes, quote, "I admired Newman because of his political stances and activism, his self-deprecation, his ability with women, and his caring for people who were less fortunate." Mellencamp went on to say he also looked to Newman as a role model in parenthood. He says he even named one of his own children "Hud" after a character Newman played in the 1963 film. Newman passed away at the age of 83 after a long battle with lung cancer. Some of his most notable films include "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," and his most recent flick "Road to Perdition." He is survived by his wife and several daughters.
