Melissa Etheridge To Marry Longtime Girlfriend
Veteran rocker Melissa Etheridge is exercising her right to marry under California's same-sex marriage laws. The singer told TV's "Extra" that she and longtime girlfriend Tammy Lynn Michaels plan to tie the knot. When prompted about a possible wedding during an interview with the show, Etheridge said, quote, "Yes, we have four children and we're trying to find the right time." Forty-seven-year-old Etheridge has been open about her sexual orientation for years. She has two children with her former partner Julie Cypher, and in 2006, she and Michaels had their own twins. Thirty-three-year-old Michaels is an actress who appeared in the cable series "The L Word." Etheridge and Michaels will follow two other high-profile same-sex couples who recently tied the knot. Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia de Rossi exchanged vows this summer, as did former "Star Trek" actor George Takei and his longtime boyfriend Brad Altman. |
