Founding Kingston Trio Member Passes Away
Nick Reynolds, a founding member of the Kingston Trio, has died. "The Los Angeles Times" reports Reynolds passed away Wednesday in a San Diego hospital at the age of 75. He had been hospitalized in recent weeks due to acute respiratory disease and his family decided to take him off life support. With the Kingston Trio Reynolds was credited for reviving folk music in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The group's music paved the way for the likes of Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul and Mary. In 1958, Reynolds and band members Dave Guard and Bob Shane, earned a Grammy Award at the first ever Grammy ceremony. Some of the Kingston Trio's noted hits include "The Tijuana Jail" and "M.T.A." Reynolds is survived by his wife Leslie, two sons and two daughters. |
