"Soul Train" Creator Must Surrender Firearms, Be "Peaceful" With Alleged Victim
"Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius doesn't have his any firearms anymore. TMZ.com says a protective order has been placed against the TV entrepreneur, and judge has required him to surrender all his guns. He was also ordered to have only, quote, "peaceful contact" with his victim. Cornelius is facing several charges in connection to a domestic dispute that resulted in his arrest last month. He's due back in court on December 4th. The 72-year-old Cornelius, the developer and longtime host for the syndicated dance/music program "Soul Train," was charged Friday with three counts of spousal battery, one count of dissuading a witness from making a police report, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon stemming from his arrest October 17th. Police took him into custody after they responded to a "domestic dispute" call at his Los Angeles-area home. Cornelius is married, but police haven't said if the alleged victim is his wife. He's facing up to five years in prison if he's convicted on all the charges.
