Perry Says Tyler's Still In Aerosmith
It looks like Steven Tyler is back in the saddle again -- at least to some extent. "Classic Rock" reports that Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says that Tyler hasn't quit the band, nor has he been "fired." Perry said, quote, "We're taking the attitude that he's going on a vacation from Aerosmith. While he's away working on other projects, the rest of us want to carry on playing live. So we will bring another singer to make this happen." Perry added that he and his bandmates have no illusions about finding a singer that can "replace" Tyler. He also criticized the Internet rumor mill that's weighed in on the band's future frontman. Perry commented, quote, "The reality is that we know a lot of vocalists, and have sounded out some of them as to whether they'd be interested in joining the band. Right now, no one's been offered the job." Perry's comments follow reports that Tyler's attorney Skip Miller intervened on behalf of the 61-year-old singer, issuing a cease and desist letter to the band's management. Miller also reportedly called a meeting of Aerosmith "shareholders" for this Tuesday, February 9th.
