MGMT Share Their Heavenly Inspiration Behind New CD
MGMT's trippy new album "Congratulations" may have fans questioning if the lads had a little chemical boost while recording. But the duo say it wasn't drugs, but "The Lord Jesus Christ" who was their biggest influence on the upcoming record. Andrew Van Wyngarden tells XFM," quote, "It feels really good to wake up every morning and know that the Lord is my savior." The vocalist also notes that British bands served as an inspiration on the disc. He adds, quote, "I never really had an appreciation for The Specials, but we saw them in Australia in the summer. A lot of British bands influenced this album. We also want to shout out to Deep Freeze Mice and The Monochrome Set. Thanks for influencing our record." MGMT's "Congratulations" arrives April 13th. |
