Rage Against The Machine, Conor Oberst Striking Against Arizona
Rage Against The Machine is raging against Arizona. The politically-charged band is taking the stage at the Hollywood Palladium Friday night at a fundraiser for The Sound Strike, a collective of musicians and other artists taking a stand against Arizona's controversial immigration bill, SB 1070. The show will mark Rage's first North American concert in nearly two years, and the band's first official performance in their hometown in a decade. "The OC Register" reports that the sold-out event is expected to bring in more than 300-thousand-dollars, which The Sound Strike will funnel to charities, organizations, and other outlets working to overturn the bill. The Sound Strike artist Conor Oberst and his band The Mystic Valley Band are opening show. Oberst is also staging another fundraiser for the cause later this month. He'll perform with his bands Bright Eyes and Desparecidos at the Concert For Equality in Omaha, Nebraska on July 31st.
